Last week was spring break and I really had a chance to play some with coding again. I love everything I'm learning in Code Academy and the fun I'm having with my lady devs on Code Saturday (3 different mentoring programs all on one day). Therefore, I decided to take steps to finally get back to customizing this site.
First, you will notice the name has changed from Living in Acronym Hell to Living in Alphabet Soup. I still have to change the URL, but one step at a time. I found a template that I liked from The Cutest Blog on the Block, and the background is still theirs ... for now. I have, however, created my own header and changed a lot of the font around. Still a lot of work to be done, but I love it.
The changes have been made and uploaded in Github using Git Bash & Sublime Text Editor. Therefore, I am able to see version control and make comments on my commits. I know that much of this may not make sense to many of my readers, as I usually talk about all of this on my Redbird Empire blog, but hey ... you never know who might be reading.
In addition to digital changes, we have made some family changes. Due to recent events in our extended family, we have changed the way we are doing things in our immediate family. The first step was to take a family camping trip. This was a spur of the moment decision since I rarely have any weekends free. Therefore, hubby wasn't able to attend the weekend. It didn't matter too much since it was SUPREMELY cold for the month of March and we ended up calling the trip 24 hours early. The wind was so strong it kept flattening our tent ... but the stakes held.
What I learned with the trip was that my children are fully capable of working as a unit when the need arises. The trip was a huge success. Everyone got along, the camp had a bonfire that everyone pitched in on, food was tasty, and rocks were successfully skipped in the lake. I'm attaching a few pictures. I was really proud of my sensory children who were able to go with the flow, even though schedules changed a bit and temperatures were not of their liking.
