LEGO KidsFest ... and a new product preview

One of my favorite things that took place last week was LEGO KidsFest. I was able to give away two tickets to one of my readers, and I attended myself. Although, I had a MASSIVE mix-up after dealing with everything that took place last week. I completely forgot that our tickets were for Friday. We were so caught up in handling the issues with the children that I hadn't moved everything from my email over to my planner.

However, I promised my son I would fix it. He does not handle change well at all, and he is obsessed with LEGOs. This meant that I needed to make sure he got to go, more than the other kids. I got Pitbull settled with giving her an IOU to Avengers later this month, and the younger two weren't even aware that we were going to KidsFest to begin with.

We chose the Saturday morning session, which ran from 9am to 1pm. This was one of the four identical sessions that KidsFest offered for their Kansas City tour. We got there around 9:45am and missed all the heavy traffic getting in. The only downside to going on Saturday was graduations were going on. This made parking a lot more difficult and the attendants had blocked off areas to direct traffic ... which meant if you turned wrong, you ended up going right back out! I would definitely have preferred KidsFest to notify me of different parking options that were available. I found some for Planet Comicon, which is in the same location this weekend.

Bullfrog had a great time playing with different types of LEGOs. We started with the Santoki Stationary booth.

This is a brand new product that offers parents and children the ability to get creative with writing utensils. There are multiple products that interact and allow a child to get creative. Their products include pencils (and pencil holders), erasers, pens, coloring pencils, markers, rulers, journals, and organizing boxes. You can find all of the products at Barnes & Noble for $6 to $34. When we went to KidsFest, we went live on Facebook showing off the different products. However, in the afternoon, Bullfrog made a video where it was quieter and showed off the pens that Santoki sent to us!

After spending time at that table, we moved on and posed with LEGO figures, learned some Mad Science, raced some cars, and built Star Wars characters. It was great fun and we had plenty of time to get everything done that we wanted to in our alloted time slot, but we really wished that LEGO Mindstorm was there since my son loves robots.

Here are just a few of my other favorite photos from the morning ... and if you missed out on all the fun, I hope you make plans to go next year!
